Hello, I’m Lise and this is my first article of this blog. On the 17th and 18th of August 2019, I went to Port Dover with my host family. We left the house at 11 a.m and we saw a lot of corn fields all along the road, I’ve never seen so many before. Steve, my exchange partner’s dad told us that it was used for many reasons like produce fuel or to feed cattle… Finaly we arrived in the early afternoon to begin the little trip.
Port Dover is located in Ontario near Lake Erie and is a three hour trip from Collingwood by car. This town has a special event that is held on each Friday the 13th. This event attracts thousands and thousands of motorcycles for a rally and they drive on the streets of Port Dover. Unfortunately, Friday the 13ths are rare in the year, so I didn’t get to see the rally but I saw pictures of this event and it seemed very large.
During the weekend I did a lot of things, like swim in lake Erie which was very funny and peaceful. It is exactly the same thing as on the west coast of France with the beach, the waves and the seagulls, except the lake is not salty. I also got to try food in Port Dover, we went to « Crepe House » and I was surprised to eat the best crepe I’ve ever eaten, it had a lot of berries inside. My favourite crepe was in Canada, I can’t believe it ! And finaly, I played mini golf for the first time which was very funny but I wasn’t very good at this sport and I came in fourth place. Too bad…
It was a very nice weekend with a lot of discoveries and I’m ready to continue this Canadian adventure.
Thanks for reading.
